Face Wipes

@theofficialselfridges 🛍 reported on Friday that they are removing all plastic based 🧴 face wipes from their stores
~
We know plastic is a problem 🌊 but face wipes 🧻 are a particularly bad offender 👮‍♀️ In 2016, 14 wet wipes were found per 100m of UK coastline 😱 (source: @mcs_uk) and I can’t imagine SA 🇿🇦 is very different - I’ve even found them myself on beach cleanups with @sea_the_bigger_picture 🏝
~
Despite their convenience, throwaway face wipes just aren’t eco friendly, full stop. Check my IG post to see how their lifespan compares to other marine life...(spoiler, its 💯 years) 🌊
~
Luckily, there are alternatives. We stock @southern_soul_sa packs of reusable cotton wipes, as well as the lovely @spazastore cloth you see in the pic - hand knitted by women working from home around Cape Town
~
The beauty 😉 of eco friendly beauty is that it can also save you money - reusable wipes, razors, cotton buds etc require fewer resources and fewer of your Rands too! 💴
